Hot engine coolant flows through the core behind the dashboard, and the blower fan pushes air across it to warm the cabin and clear misted windows. A blocked or leaking heater core typically causes weak or no heat, a sweet coolant smell inside the car, fogged glass or damp carpets on the passenger side.

Vehicle compatibility

The listing shows 100 fitment entries for Audi models, including:

Audi A4 (8K2, B8) 2007–2015: 1.8 TFSI, 2.0 TFSI, 2.0 TDI, 3.0 TFSI, 3.2 FSI quattro and S4 quattro

Audi A4 Avant and A4 Allroad (8KH, B8) 2.0 TFSI quattro

Audi A5 (8T3), A5 Sportback (8TA) and A5 Convertible (8F7) 2007–2017, including S5 and RS5 quattro

Audi Q5 (8RB) from 2008: 2.0 TFSI, 3.0 TFSI, 3.0 TDI, 3.2 FSI quattro and SQ5

The part listing also refers to Volkswagen and Skoda; please check those applications separately.

Key features

Direct replacement heater core for restoring cabin heating.

Referenced to 5QD819031C.

Helps clear windscreen fogging in cold and wet New Zealand conditions.

Brand-new aftermarket replacement unit.

Specifications

Part type

Heater core / heater matrix

Reference number

5QD819031C

Condition

New

Approx. packed dimensions

50 x 30 x 12 cm

Approx. packed weight

3.0 kg

Installation

Heater core replacement is a substantial job on most of these models, often requiring partial dashboard or climate housing removal. The cooling system must be drained and refilled with the correct coolant and then bled to remove air. Professional installation by an experienced technician is recommended, and it is good practice to flush the cooling system to prevent the new core from blocking.

Fitment checks before ordering

The 5QD prefix is not typically associated with the B8 platform listed in the fitment data.
