The engine's RPM and load is automatically 3D profiled by the Knock Link, continuously storing and dynamically adjusting this noise profile map while looking for the particular knock frequency. Operation is simple. The colour of the LED represents four different modes: Dim Blue - Knock Link is powered, waiting for the engine to be started Flashing Blue - Knock Link has detected the engine has started and is now calibrating Dim Green - Knock Link is adapting to the engine's noise profile and listening for knock Flashing Red - Knock Link has detected knock. Fitting a genuine, correctly rated sensor - rather than a generic aftermarket part - reduces the risk of signal noise, drift or an incorrect reading being used by the ECU's tuning tables and protection strategies. Correct sensor wiring, shielding and connector choice also matters: a poor connection at the sensor is one of the more common causes of erratic ECU behaviour, so using the matching Link plug kit or pigtail where available is recommended.
