It is supplied as a new unit with a 4.0L displacement and petrol fuel system. A replacement engine is typically chosen when the original block has suffered internal damage, high wear or failure, and a like-for-like swap is the most practical way to return the vehicle to service.

Vehicle Fitment

Vehicle make: Mercedes-Benz

Supplier-listed models: GL-class, GL450, GL500

Supplier-listed production years: 2007-2016, 2014-2015, 2006-2016 (year ranges are not matched model-by-model by the supplier, so confirm against your vehicle)

Engine code: 278, M278

Engine capacity: 4.0L

Fuel type: Petrol

OEM / reference numbers: M278

LHD / RHD: not specified by the supplier

Product Specifications

Component: Engine Assembly

Condition: New

Cylinders: 8

Supplier-listed power: 310KW/320KW

Supplier-listed torque: 600Nm/700Nm

Dimensions, weight and detailed technical drawings were not published by the supplier for this item.
