Hot engine coolant flows through the core and the blower pushes air across it to warm the cabin and clear the windscreen. A blocked or leaking heater core can cause lukewarm air, a sweet coolant smell inside the car, fogged glass or damp carpets.

Vehicle compatibility

The listing shows 200 fitment rows across the Volkswagen group PQ34 platform. Examples include Volkswagen Golf IV hatch, Variant and Cabriolet, Bora and Bora Variant, Jetta IV, New Beetle and Beetle Convertible, Audi A3 8L and TT 8N (coupe and roadster), Skoda Octavia I and Combi, and Seat Toledo II and Leon 1M, roughly 1996 to 2010. One row lists a BMW X3, which we believe is a data error and should be ignored.
