This electro-hydraulic style unit supplies pressure to the steering rack on many small Volkswagen Group vehicles and is the part to consider when steering becomes heavy, noisy or a steering warning appears.

Common symptoms of a failing electric steering pump include whining, heavy steering at low speed, intermittent assistance and a steering warning light. Because these pumps combine an electric motor and hydraulic pump in one unit, replacement is usually the most reliable fix once faults appear, especially on older high-kilometre vehicles.

Vehicle compatibility

Listing data contains about 200 applications, including Volkswagen Polo IV and V (and Polo Saloon and Variant), Skoda Fabia I and II, Roomster, Seat Ibiza II to IV, Cordoba and Toledo IV, and Audi A1 and A2. Entries for some Fiat and Abarth models also appear and are unlikely to be correct.
